RESEARCH UNIT 1
Integrated Microsystems
The unit has a solid and recognized experience in the analog signal processing data converters using the CMOS and BiCMOS technologies, and non-volatile memories in sub-micron technologies. The unit recently acquired experience in the area of dc-dc converters and voltage regulators with special features like obtaining multiple outputs with a single inductor and low noise regulations.
This unit will work on interfaces for sensors with very-low and ultra-low power, for the co-integration of processing functions and memories and the design of sensors that can be realized on silicon without chances on the process.
The long lasting research activity gave rise to many master (more than 200) and Ph.D. now employed in semiconductor companies in Italy and abroad. Some of the former students are professors in foreigner and Italian universities, including the University of Pavia.
The research activity is supported by the complete set of CAD tools and design kit. Many licenses are available for using Cadence, Mentor, Synopsis, Labview, Matlab, Simulink. The experimental testing is favored by a well equipped laboratory shared with other units for optimizing resources.
This Unit is responsible of the WP0 that will be implemented with the support of all the other units, will carry the tasks 1 and 2 of the WP1 and will design the demonstrators in cooperation with units 2, 3 and 5.
